You Are 42 Percent More Likely To Achieve Your Goals If You Write Them Down. I Bombed Last Year.
4 Takeaways From 2021 To Consider So You Can Crush 2022
In 2021, I wrote down all of my goals and only accomplished 1 of the 6 goals I set for myself.
In recent years, I've been more intentional about writing and tracking my goals. But writing down your goals clearly isn't all that it takes to accomplish them.
Here's what I learned from 2021 👇
🎣How? Not Just What.
It is relatively easier on the mind to identify the end goal from the beginning. The gritty work of goal setting is identifying the steps in the middle.
The How?
Ex:Get Debt Free. Okay great! You're not done. What do you need to do, change, not do to make this happen. Break it down into tasks:
o Set up auto-pay on all credit cards
o Set aside 30% of each check to debt
o Use the snowball method
🏔Unrealistic Goals=Realistic Let Downs
The taller and more unrealistic the goal you set for yourself, the harder you'll fall and mope when it doesn't happen.
Unfortunately, I know that feeling all too well.
Ex:Write 30 Blog Posts. Now this may not come off as unrealistic to some. But to someone who has never written on the internet aside from Instagram captions.
It's a lot.
How about write 1 post or better yet, 250 words publically.
📝Missing The Goal Is Not Good. But It's Not Bad Either.
This was both a fail and a win.
No one likes failure but falling short gives us the gift of uncovering the "Why?" behind it and revealing our areas of improvement.
Ex:Read 8 books. In 2021 I read 1 book (128 pages).
I came to grips with the fact that I a natural slooooow reader and that it is okay. This year my goal is to read, you guessed it:1 book.
⛳️Set Up Checkpoints
I did no type of check-ins to review my progress.
I just hit start and the Temple Run through the year began and didn't stop. Incorporate pauses & checkpoints.
