This is The Friday Tasting Menu, where I provide you with a weekly spread of share-worthy things.
Hey everyone!
Hope you all had a Thought Full Week. I know you’re getting this on Saturday and I apologize for that. Yesterday was a rush of all kinds of emotions. God showed up in an incredible way for me that threw me for a whole loop! I didn’t sit down to start writing till like 8-9 PM.
But nevertheless, I’ve got some great shares for you this week!
If you’re new to the community, I want to personally welcome you and thank you for your support. Enjoy!
Enjoy your weekend! See you Monday! Happy Sandwiches 🥪

📖 a read
This piece is yet another from a fellow course mate who I had the pleasure of meeting named Sajeev Medikonda.
One great takeaway from Ship 30 for 30 was being able to meet other believers who were also interested in writing. In this piece, Sajeev takes the daunting view of the law-filled book of Leviticus and tears down the wall of intimidation to get through it.
For us in the 21st century to see all of these strange laws can turn us off and maybe even confuse us but to the contextual Jews of the Old Testament it was clear what God wanted for His people. Holiness.
The last point brings it home in that not just the book of Leviticus but all of the Old Testament points us to our need of a Savior. That Savior is Jesus Christ.

Francis Chan’s illustrations have been both impactful, memorable, and easy to understand. I really dislike Panda Express so this video was extra relatable.
I know so many people who have left their faith because of church hurt. It saddens me because the reality is the Church of Christ is not perfect and without blemish and we won’t be until Jesus comes back but at the same time we can do better. We love better, teach better, disciple better, correct better, lead better, pray better, serve better, challenge better, and more.
My friend if that’s you let me tell you, Christ ain’t no Panda Express! He’s the real deal. Church, we need to get back to our Biblical roots!

Pressure-Young C
Spotify / Apple Music / YouTube
Young C has been one of my favorite rappers over the last few years.
He goes hard in his flows and rhymes but, don’t be fooled his lyrics are more than just catchy. They are filled with bold, edifying, and electrifying truth.
This song’s lyrics encouraged me greatly in one of the hardest seasons I’ve faced in my life recently. He closes the track like this:
I get better under pressure
That’s because I serve the Highest
What’s a blessing to the Blesser?
Every need He supplied it
🍴a bite
Chicken Noodle Soup as promised last week. This was made using the leftovers from the lovely Roasted Chicken recipe I shared a few days ago. I advised to keep the bones as well as of course any leftover meat so we could repurpose it into a cozy, hot, nutritious bowl of soup that is perfect for a lingering winter day.
In this recipe I’m going to teach you how to create a delicious, savory broth/stock so we can use it as the base for our soup! While you can just buy the boxed stuff, trust me this will change your mind! Plus, if you make a Roasted Chicken, why not get the most out of it!
I’d say say try it at least once and you be the judge. See for yourself. Proof is in the pudding.
Important: In case you missed it, I’ve decided to share my recipes on a separate email moving forward just so it can be a devoted space for you to search, follow along more easily, and makes these Friday emails a little more concise but I will definitely continue share a bite here!
💭a thought
I stumbled on this while reading my devotional on Wednesday morning. I’ve been using a free daily devotional from In Touch Ministries, which is available via both their app or they send you a monthly booklet that fits inside most Bibles.
When you need to make a tough decision remember H.A.L.T!
“The acronym H.A.L.T stands for Hungry. Angry. Lonely. Tired— four states in which we’re more likely to make poor(er) choices.”
Then there’s the rare breed who get Hangry! Proceed with caution. This is a useful little framework to help us be more aware of ourselves and our emotions. I would even add “Anxious”to the list.
🗯a quote
Every Intellectual Endeavour Starts With A Note.
-Sönke Ahrens
This quote was resurfaced with Readwise (a software to help get more out of what you read)
This is from a book I began reading a while ago called How To Take Smart Notes. I kinda stopped reading but it’s in the queue to read for sure at some point. What a simple statement yet if thought about more intentionally can drastically impact your productivity, organization, effectiveness, and more!
I shared a post this last Monday on 4 Prolific Perspectives On NoteTaking. Check it out for some practical approaches and mindsets to dig into.
🍞a verse
As you likely saw above these verses were from the same devotional I got H.A.L.T from. This was so timely in my life. I prayed these verses before God in asking for direction in a time when the next step was unclear and out of my control.
Verses 1 and 2 are both “but/despite/even though” statements. Let’s take a look:
V1-We may have plans that are our own BUT the answer, in the end, comes from God
V2-We can quickly lose self-awareness and see no wrong in our doing BUT God weighs the spirit and see our motives, intentions, and desires.
Verse 3 is different. It’s a promise!
V3-If we commit all that we do and all that we are to God our plans WILL (not might) be established.
Good is faithful to every last one of His promises in His Word. And this has become a reality for me in the last few days to see it come to pass in my own life. This week!
